I was the Assistant Spokesman (traineeship) in the EPP Group Press and Communications Service in the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg for a period of 3 months, from 11th April 2012 to 11th July 2012.
During the time mentioned I had a possibility to learn many practical aspects of journalism and public relations. I wrote press releases, reports and highlights of the week; attanded many public hearings, debates and events in the European Parliament and the European Commission. I also made Polish-English and English-Polish translations as well as proofread texts in both languages.
What is more, I had an opportunity to cooperate with the EPP TV, where I interviewed several Members of the EP and celebrities who were guests in the European Parliament. I also used many occasions to learn technical aspects of preparing and creating television clips.
The best thing about the traineeship was that I got to know many new people from all around the world. I worked with persons from Taiwan, Ukraine, France, Luxemburg, Belgium, Italy, Romania, Latvia, Ireland, Albania, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany and many more. All the trainees met many times after work and had a very good time together.
I believe that the traineeship helped me much with my further development – mostly in the spheres of politics, journalism, translations and public relations.
